Jim Boeheim, the former coach of New York Knicks' Carmelo Anthony when he was still in Syracuse, said that the NBA superstar will probably never be able to get a championship ring in the league. According to him, throughout his career, Anthony made teams better but never got the chance to win the championships.

Before debut in the NBA in 2003, Anthony played college basketball under the program of coach Boeheim. During his last year with his college team, he was able to secure an NCAA national championship.

Anthony then went on to become an accomplished professional player. He even managed to take him three Olympic gold medals with Team USA, according to Bleacher Report. However, it seems Anthony's accomplishments as a basketball player are only outside the realm of the NBA.

In his 13 years of being an NBA player, he has never been part of a team that won the league's championship. The closest he got to this was appearing in the finals series of the first 10 seasons in the league. Seven of these happened when he was with the Denver Nuggets, the team he was with from 2003 to 2011. He also made three finals appearances as a member of the New York Knicks.

But, since then, the championship ring has alluded Anthony.

According to Boeheim, there's a good chance that he will never win an NBA title in his career. Despite this, the coach noted that Anthony has the skills to bring teams to the finals series.

"He's unlikely to win an NBA title," he told Syracuse.com. "He's never been on a team that even had a remote chance of winning an NBA title. As a player, all you can do is try to make your team better and every team he's been on he's made them a lot better."

"Denver hadn't done anything prior to him getting there and he took them into the playoffs," he added. "They weren't going to beat the Lakers or the Spurs. In those years, they won the championship most of the time."

But, given how the offseason went for the Knicks, perhaps this could be the year when Anthony can finally take him a championship ring. During the past few months, the Knicks spent their time and money rebuilding their roster by getting the likes of Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah.
