Last week, the Golden State Warriors' assistant coach accepted a job offer from the Los Angeles Lakers. But, this doesn't mean that the team will be going through the rest of the conference semifinals without Luke Walton since someone is already in line to assist head coach Steve Kerr.

On April 29, Walton accepted the Lakers' offer to be the team's new head coach, which will immediately take place once this season ends. As for the Lakers' current coach, the team has decided not to renew Bryan Scott's contract for next season.

Possibly replacing Walton as the new assistant of Kerr is Jarron Collins, a former player for the Portland Trail Blazers. He officially joined the staff of Golden State in 2014 as the team's player development coach. Then, a year later, he was promoted to the assistant coach position.

According to ESPN, it is rumored that Collins is being groomed to be the next head coach of the Warriors. Because of this, it is believed that he will replace Walton as the direct assistant of Kerr.

But then again, this is not yet confirmed and since the team has other assistant coaches such as Bruce Fraser and Ron Adams, any one of these can easily be Walton's replacement.

As for Kerr, he noted that he did not feel disappointed when Walton told him that he will be leaving Golden State.

"Luke and I will have a lifetime friendship," Kerr said during a press conference according to Mercury News. "We will undoubtedly share ideas and thoughts, coaching-wise, that kind of thing."

"I think that's kind of how the NBA is-it's kind of a fraternity and you have a lot of friendships within that community and you look after your pals and you share ideas," he added.

Given the Warrior's current line-up, which includes Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson, Kerr said that once Walton leaves Golden State, he will tease him about the players he will have to work with in Los Angeles.

"I'm going to say 'It's too bad you don't have Steph, and Klay and Draymond anymore.'" He said. "You're on your own pal."
