Aside from getting Mark Sanchez, the Dallas Cowboys could be exploring other options for their injured quarterback Tony Romo. And according to rumors, one of these includes trading him away.

Romo suffered a nasty back injury last month during the Cowboys' preseason game. A medical examination on the athlete revealed that he had broken a bone on his back.

Of course, this means that the athlete will not be able to join the rest of the Cowboys when they open their season on Sept. 11 during a game against the New York Giants. According to reports, Romo is expected to miss around six to 10 weeks due to his injury.

But, since this is just an estimate, there's a chance that Romo's break from the field might be longer. There's also the risk that he might miss the entire season due to the seriousness of his injury.

Last month, the injury of Romo only left Dak Prescott as the quarterback of the Dallas. The Cowboys then fixed this by reportedly signing Sanchez after he was released by the Denver Broncos.

With Sanchez and Prescott onboard, that means the Dallas organization's quarterback bench only has two players. This isn't very ideal since it lacks the necessary depth to go through the season.

One solution that the Dallas team could opt for is trading Romo. Of course, at his current state, the team will probably have a hard time looking for a team willing to get the athlete. But, if the Cowboys wait until his condition gets better, other teams could get interested in signing him.

The means the team might have to wait until 2017 to trade Romo. By doing so, the Dallas franchise will be able to enter next season with a healthier lineup. The team will also be able to provide an more adequate backup to Sanchez if he decides to stay with the team.

An athlete that the Cowboys could probably trade for is Colin Kaepernick of the San Francisco 49ers. Given his current status, which was marred by his protests during the preseason games, Kaepernick will probably have a hard time finding a new team if the 49ers decide to release him. Since the Cowboys are in need of another quality QB, then signing Kaepernick could be a mutually beneficial deal.
