NFL Rumors: Miami Dolphins’ Jordan Cameron To Retire Early

The Miami Dolphins could end up losing a player this year as tight end Jordan Cameron is reportedly already thinking about retiring early. According to reports, the athlete is having second thoughts about continuing his career in the NFL after suffering his latest concussion.

Like in Week 4 and Week 5, Cameron will once again not be able to join the Dolphins in their Week 6 match against the Pittsburgh Steelers since he is still recovering from the concussion he suffered during the game against the Cleveland Browns on Sept. 25.

Since this is his fourth concussion in four years, Cameron is already starting to think seriously about his health and career with the Dolphins and the NFL. Whether or not he fully recovers from his current condition, he will most likely still consider retiring early.

The Dolphins, on the other hand, are very understanding of Cameron's current situation especially due to the number of concussions he had already suffered in his years in the league. This is the main reason why they are not rushing his recovery, even though they are in serious need of building a strong lineup since they already have four losses this season.

Cameron's recent tone is certainly much different when the season opened. Back then, before he suffered a concussion, he was very much focused on improving his game and helping the Miami franchise.

"It just depends on what the role is," he said in September. "I mean, the system dictates obviously your catches and your touches and your targets. So my role is to get more targets, that's my role and I'll embrace it. And if not, I've always been a team-first guy."

"So my mindset has been very unselfish," he added. "In my head, whatever I can do to help this team take the next step and win more games, that's really what matters to me. I haven't been on a winning team since I've been in the NFL, so that's my priority."

In March of 2015, Cameron signed a two-year deal with the Dolphins that's worth $15 million. This means that whether or not he decides to retire next offseason, he will most likely get released from the team next year.
