The New England Patriots went on full survival mode during their Week 2 game against the Miami Dolphins following Jimmy Garoppolo's injury. However, since the team's chances of winning against the Houston Texans is looking slim especially with rookie quarterback Jacoby Brisset on the lineup, the team could resign free agent Ryan Lindley to add some depth to its QB bench.

On Sunday, the Patriots were able to snatch their second win in the 2016 NFL season by edging out the Dolphins. The New England team started pretty strong early in the game by securing a 31-3 lead. However, following Garoppolo's injury during the second quarter, the Dolphins almost caught up with the Patriots. Fortunately, New England's defense was able to hold back Miami to finish the game with a score of 31-24.

For the rest of the game, Brisset stepped in for Garoppolo while wide receiver Julian Edelman was moved as the emergency quarterback. However, after seeing how Brisset played during the recent game, it seems the Patriots would need a more seasoned QB if they want to win against the Texans at Thursday's game.

To add depth to their roster, the New England franchise could bring in Lindley. He started his NFL career in 2012 with the Arizona Cardinals but eventually ended up in various teams including the San Diego Chargers and Indianapolis Colts.

Last year, he was with the Patriots and served as the team's quarterback during the 2015 preseason games. This gives him an edge because he is aware of the Patriots' coaching and playing style.

As someone who is very familiar with New England's offense, Lindley could serve as an effective and reliable stand-in until Tom Brady returns from his four-game suspension. Once Brady comes back, the Patriots can then move him to the No. 2 spot or the No. 3, depending on Garoppolo's recovery.

But for now, what the team really needs is someone who is very knowledgeable in professional football. Although Brisset is still a talented player, it's safe to say that Lindley is more capable than him. After all, he served as the personal quarterbacks coach for Carson Wentz and Jared Goff.
