When the 2016 NFL season began, Colin Kaepernick's role with the San Francisco 49ers has been a huge questions. However, after the team received its fourth consecutive loss at Week 5 thanks to the Arizona Cardinals, it seems the 49ers are working out a new deal that will make Kaepernick as their new starting quarterback.

At this point, it's probably safe to say that the San Francisco squad is not having a good season after losing to the Cardinals 21 to 33 las Sunday. This marks their fourth straight loss after making an explosive debut at Week 1 by keeping the Los Angeles Rams scoreless.

Part of the reason behind the 49ers' demise is their current starting quarterback Blaine Gabbert. For the last five weeks, Gabbert was able to prove why he's an ineffective quarterback. On average, his pass completion is less than 50 percent. He also only averages 178 passing yards per match with six interceptions and a total of just five touchdowns.

Given the way he's playing, the 49ers need to make a drastic change to its QB bench if they want to redeem themselves at Week 6 when they take on the Buffalo Bills.

Although they could turn to Christian Ponder as the new No. 1 QB, there's still a big chance that he won't be able to propel the team out of its current losing streak. Because of this, their only hope is to plat Kaepernick at the No. 1 spot.

According to insiders, the 49ers and Kaepernick's camp are working out a deal that could make him as the team's main passer. However, it is still not yet clear if the athlete or his agent has accepted the deal.

Putting Kaepernick on the line will certainly mark a huge change for the San Francisco team. However, the big questions is if Kaepernick is ready to take on this responsibility.

Politics and public opinions aside, Kaeprnick has been a shaky athlete ever since the 2016 preseason. For one, just last month, coach Chip Kelly admitted that he's not sure if Kaepernick is 100 percent healthy to take on the starting quarterback post.

Back then, he noted that Kaepernick's weight has been a problem for the whole team.

"Everybody wants to know why Kap isn't out No. 1," he said. "I don't think he's ready to go fulltime."

"I think he's playing weight has been around 225, and he's not at that right now," Kelly added. "So he's going out there and continuing to work, continuing to get better."

Based on what Kelly said, which he made about two weeks ago, Kapernick is still not ready to be the team's main quarterback. But, given how the 49ers are playing this season, it seems they have no other choice but to appoint him at the No. 1 spot.
