It is the same right before each season begins -- there will be a slew of rumors that go around, pointing out just which particular player is going to have a new employer in the upcoming season, and most of the time, another player who would be headed in the opposite direction. The latest slew of NFL trade rumors do point to the New York Jets picking up not one, but two more players before the start of the season -- Johnny Manziel and Colin Kaepernick. Of course, nothing has been confirmed just yet, but just like how there is no smoke without fire, could we see both Johnny Manziel and Colin Kaepernick appear on the team roster for the coming NFL season?

League watchers and fans would certainly be on their toes, hoping that more news would be revealed concerning their possible move in search for greener pastures. With New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith injured because of a torn ACL (which is one injury that would take a long time to recover) that was picked up in the game against the Baltimore Ravens recently. This would certainly mean that the New York Jets need a replacement for Smith, pronto, and this could be why the likes of Johnny Manziel, Colin Kaepernick and also Jay Cutler were named on the rumor mill to potentially be Smith’s replacement.

The Inquisitr claims that there are pretty strong grounds for rumors of Johnny Manziel and Colin Kaepernick heading in the direction of the New York Jets being true, since Smith would no longer be available for the whole season. Not only that, Ryan Fitzpatrick’s performance has not exactly been inspirational in order to replace Smith, with the remaining quarterback choices available to the New York Jets being amateur Christian Hackenberg and Bryce Petty -- and these two greenhorns are too wet behind the ears to be able to contribute positively to the team for the moment.

Smith’s injury has certainly caused the New York Jets’ coach Todd Bowles plenty of sleepless nights, and with the fact that Colin Kaepernick will most likely be released by the San Francisco 49ers not too far down the road makes it all the more a compelling possibility that Kaepernick might make the other end of the East Coast as his new home.

As for Johnny Manziel, he was released in March earlier this year by the Cleveland Browns, and it should not be a problem picking him up. The New York Jets ought to take into consideration, however, Manziel’s suspension by the NFL for substance abuse violations, although he has already been reinstated just this month -- and is currently available as a free agent.

In other words, a higher degree for a win-win situation would involve a set up that will see the New York Jets knocking on Johnny Manziel’s door in order to obtain his signature. We do know that the New York Jets have yet to approach either players as at press time, but things might change in the days ahead.
