Until a couple of days ago, "The Walking Dead" comic books and television series only revolved around what is happening in the zombie-filled world of Rick Grimes and his groups of survivors. But recently, through the release of the one-shot comic "The Walking Dead: The Alien," fans of the series and comic books will get the chance to view the apocalyptic scenario through a different perspective.

But aside from just a new perspective, "The Alien" also answers a particular question that was introduced in the "Walking Dead" comics: What happened to Jeff Grimes?

In the original comics, Jeff was first mentioned in issue #3 as the younger brother of Rick. Since then, he was never mentioned again and his story was never told.

Fortunately, this all changed when Panel Syndicate released "The Alien," which was made possible through a deal with "Walking Dead" publisher Image Comics. Even though it was made by a different team and company, Robert Kirkman, creator of the series, assured fans that "The Alien" falls in line with the story of "The Walking Dead."

According to Screen Rant, during the events of the zombie outbreak, Jeff has been living in Barcelona, Spain. The one-shot then focuses on Jeff as he tries to survive on his own before being rescued by a woman named Claudia who is dressed in a full suit of armor. The duo then hatch a plan to return to U.S. soil due to rumors that the government has found a way to contain the outbreak.

Of course, aside from the possibility of getting away from the apocalypse, this also means that Jeff will get the chance to finally meet up with his brother Rick.

The overall story of "The Walking Dead: The Alien" is pretty short but still manages to add a bit of spice to the narrative of the main series. Reading it can also help fans to temporarily stop thinking about who Negan killed in the season 6 finale.

It's probably unlikely that television network AMC will create an adaptation of the one-shot but it would be entertaining to see an episode or even a snippet showing Jeff in action.
