PlayStation Plus subscribers eagerly anticipate what games will be free for the month, and the month of February could have a lot, as well as some updates to the PS3 and the PS Vita. These are some predictions for the month of February 2016 as well as what is still available for January.
For those that have the PS3, system update 4.48 is out today. There is also update 3.57 for the PS Vita. Attack of the Fanboy states that both consoles remove the functionality with the Facebook app. Yes, that means that those who use Facebook for these consoles won't be able to go into this social network, like how Sony removed support for YouTube on the PS Vita last year. It looks like any business from PS Vita users on Facebook or video-sharing YouTube has to be done through the browser.
As for what free games will be available for PlayStation Plus subscribers, there is an interesting report on it from MNR Daily that some games have been predicted. One of them is Not a Hero, a tactical shooter. Another would be Shovel Knight, a game meant to hearken back to 8-bit roots. Another one that was thought to be a definite one was Crypt of the Necrodancer, but this has been proven false.
Bidness talks about their predictions, and how fans have wanted something like Knack, Watch Dogs, Assassin's Creed: Black Flag, The Last of Us Remastered, or Killzone: Shadowfall, but rather another round of indie games, which is usually what is offered. Sometimes older AAA games can make their way to the PS3, and one prediction was that Star Wars: The Force Awakens could make its way. After all, Star Wars is still pretty big for January.
It is not too late to play the free games still available for the month of January 2016. The PS4 also has Hardware: Rivals. This is a brand new game with vehicular combat that is a follow-up to a 2002 PlayStation 2 game known as Hardware: Online Arena. For the PS4 and PS Vita, there is Grim Fandango Remastered. This game is a role-playing "point and click" game based on the adventures of Manny Calavera in an afterlife that looks like something from the movie The Book of Life.
The PS Vita has Legends of War Patton, which spotlights the legendary general's campaign against the Nazis in World War II. It is a turn-based strategy video game created in 2010. Also available for the PS Vita is Nihilumbra, the game is described on the Steam Store as "Join Born on his adventure to find himself while trying to escape from his inevitable curse. Born was created from the absolute nothingness: The Void. But somehow he separates himself from the black emptiness and appears in the world."
For the PS3, there is Dragon Age: Origins. This is BioWare and Electronic Art's super fantasy role-playing game that has been very successful, bringing about two sequels: Dragon Age II and Dragon Age: Inquisition. Medal of Honor Warfighter is also available for the PS3. This is another part of the Medal of Honor franchise, the fourteenth and final installment of this franchise, actually, with this final game being launched in 2012.
Chances are the free games for February will probably be announced next week. Feel free to leave a suggestion in the comment box as to what should be available.
