The Halloween season is upon us again, and it does look as though the regular Trick or Treat tradition is going to end up a little bit more high tech than usual this year. This is because even video games have jumped aboard the Halloween bandwagon in recent memories. For instance, there have been Halloween themed packs and DLCs (downloadable content) released for various digital titles in the past, but with Pokemon GO, it is safe to assume that this is the first AR (Augmented Reality) title to feature a Halloween tie-in.

Niantic Labs has ensured that your trick or treat experience will be a different one this year, where Pokemon GO is set to offer additional bonuses this Halloween.

Halloween open season from October 26 to November 1
In Pokemon GO, the Halloween season is not just for a day, but rather, Niantic has prepared you in advance by mentioning that from October 26th to November 1st, you will be able to earn double the amount of Candy for each time that you catch Pokemon. The good news does not stop there either, where the double Candy rewarded is also applicable when you hatch and transfer Pokemon, too.

Not only that, do remember your Buddy Pokemon, since they will play a very important role in helping you earn those precious Candy that are useful when it comes to evolving the different Pokemon to suit your team. The Buddy Pokemon system should see a flurry of activity in the entire week from October 26th onward, since they will be able to help you earn Candy up to four times as fast, now how about that? Should you happen to come across a higher occurrence of spooky Pokemon than normal, that is because Niantic Labs has ensured that this will be the case. All in the spirit of Halloween, you know.

This Halloween tie-in would mark the very first "global in-game event", where it is certainly a way to further encourage Pokemon GO players to actually make the effort to head out and capture some of the ghost type Pokemons, or basically Pokemons that creep you out if they actually exist in real life.

Basically, the following Pokemon that will be more commonly found from October 26th to November 1st would be Zubat, Golbat, Gastly, Haunter, Gengar, Drowzee, and Hypno. You might want to make sure that you are properly attired as you walk around collecting candy in real life -- as well as capturing Pokemon during your Trick or Treat route, as spending too long of a time outdoors might see you catch more than just Pokemon -- but a cold as well.

If this proves to be a success and there is a spike in activity on Pokemon GO during the week, you can be sure that this will be a formula that will be repeated in the future. We are looking at perhaps a Christmas tie-in, and perhaps other holidays such as Memorial Day, where legendary Pokemon might be easier to catch as part of paying homage to the legends of our time?/
