Spring is the country singer and cancer battler Joey Feek's favorite season of the year, posted her spouse Rory Feek in an online message Thursday morning, because she always got to plant and nurture seedlings. Now, Rory describes how he's taking notes from Joey so he can try to keep her garden going after she's passed on from terminal cervical cancer.
Americans, along with the Feeks' family, have been praying and hoping Joey can witness several major milestones this month: offering of their "Hymns That Are Important To Us," to be released at Cracker Barrels nationwide starting Feb. 12, Valentine's Day and the outcome on Feb. 15 of Joey+Rory's first Grammy Award nomination for best country duo/group performance.
"Oh, Rory," posted Facebook fan Marielena Zuniga, "Sometimes my heart goes out to you more than to Joey. I know she's in pain and in transition, and yes, my heart and prayers to her. But you? You are the 'silent witness' in all this and I can't even begin to imagine what you are feeling. The feeling of powerlessness in all this is overwhelming. I am asking God and the angels to wrap their loving arms around you, and of course, Joey and Indiana."
"So thin and gaunt, and more frail than ever, my wife is sowing her seeds - putting down roots in the soil of our lives and hearts," Rory explained.
"Getting us ready for something that we can't see right now for the tears in our eye, something she might not even get to see at all. Spring."
He explained spring is when Joey feels most alive. "And this year, in spite of all she's going through, is no exception," he reassured.
Joey apparently prefers to plant seedlings in "the natural containers that the good Lord has provided:" eggs. Rory said two weeks ago, they started saving shells from the eggs they had at breakfast. Then last week, after she sent us to the store for potting soil, she started her seeds.
He also posted on Facebook Wednesday that he was "feeling broken-hearted and blessed all at the same time," while watching his "beautiful bride pour a lifetime of love into a few minutes a day" with their daughter, Indiana.
Fans responded that Rory's photos show love, and that by him sharing their journey, they have touched so many hearts and brought many back to Jesus. Fans continually offer prayers for peace and comfort.
