Samsung will unveil the fifth generation of the Galaxy S series, the Galaxy S5, today at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. The event start time is 2 p.m. ET/ 11 a.m. PT.

The Unpacked 5 2014 event can be watched online for free through live stream at Samsung's Youtube channel and on the South Korean tech giant's blog - Samsung Tomorrow. Those wanting to get live blog feeds can access CNET, PC Advisor and Engadget.

Galaxy S5 rumored to offer a new look and a larger screen, but one that is not much larger than the Samsung Galaxy S4. Some sources have suggested that the S5 could feature curved screen technology and run on Andriod 4.4 KitKat.

On the early hours of February 11, Samsung's Twitter account released an image teasing a bit of the unveiling that is set to take place later on this month. The image possibly hints of the new color and font options and its remodeled TouchWiz UI, its front-end touch interface.

The teaser image featured new apps and features on its interface that were not in previous models such as Speed, Fitness, Outdoor, Style, Fun and Privacy. The S5 model is rumored to have a 5.24-inch screen and 1,440p resolution according to TechieNews. The storage gigabits are said to range from 32 and/or 64GB and possibly a 3,200 ampere-hour battery life.

Another feature that the S5 model may carry is the iris technology. Whereas the iPhone 5 from Apple has fingerprint, the Galaxy model may carry an enhanced pupil detection system to be featured on the smartphone.

At the Samsung's press event at the Consumer Electronics Show last month, spokesperson Lee Young Hee neither confirmed nor denied the feature. "Many people are fanatical about iris recognition technology and we are studying the possibility but can't really say whether we will have it or not on the S5."

Reports are also indicating that the S5 model will have the option of a new full metal body as well as the commonly used plastic covering from the previous models.
