Shane & Shane to Write Exclusive Song

By Lauren Leigh Noske

Shane Barnard and Shane Everett plan to write a song based on a randomly chosen fan’s favorite Bible verse, in celebration of their new album release “Bring Your Nothing.” The popular Christian band is known for writing songs in light of the Gospel, and bases many of their lyrics on passages of Scripture.

“Bring Your Nothing” is comprised of several songs about Christ’s redemption and His relationship to the church. The title track is based on Isaiah 55:1-2: “Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to Me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food” (English Standard Version).

Says the band of God’s immeasurable grace, “I think we will forever be trying to come up with new ways to speak/sing of the Gospel of Grace. Here’s the deal: we come with NOTHING; He gives us EVERYTHING. In fact, that is what He requires … NOTHING! It’s a good thing I have a lot of that to bring! How about you?”

Contestants can enter their names on the band’s facebook page, and the winner’s name will be drawn at random on July 5. Shane & Shane will proceed to write and record a song based on a verse that has been meaningful in the fan’s life, and the winner will be given a CD with their exclusive song on it.
