The ‘Stranger Things’ cast carries on to becoming one of the most interesting circles as the breakout hit is expected to add more characters in the premiere release date of their second season.
In a report by The Telegraph, six more characters will make their debut in ‘Stranger Things’ season 2 in addition to the regular names in the sci-fi thriller.
Cast members who are set to be introduced include Danish actress Linnea Berthelsen who will play Roman- an “emotionally damaged, magnetic young woman who suffered a great loss as a child.” It has been speculated that she will be associated with the mysterious events happening at the laboratory, although she does not reside within the Hawkins area.
Sean Astin will take the role of Bob Newby, described as a “kindhearted former nerd” who attended the local high school with Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Chief Hopper (David Harbour). Bob is now the manager of the Hawkins RadioShack.
While the bad-guy persona in the form of Dr. Brenner (Matthew Modine) will be absent during the second season, he will be replaced by a Dr. Owens, to be played by Paul Reiser. The high-ranking character will also be a member of the Department of Energy and is given the job to clean up after the government’s erroneous efforts and failed attempts in the laboratory of the previous year.
Brett Gelman joins ‘Stranger Things’ season 2 as a journalist named Murray Bauman. Leaving his reporting job behind, Murray spends more time dealing with conspiracy theories, exploring a case that was already left behind in the past but could be associated with the supernatural events that have begun to occur in town.
Dacre Montgomery has been tapped to join the cast alongside Sadie Sink; the pair will play siblings Billy and Max. While Billy is the cool and collected older brother, Max exudes confidence and a behavior that is more boyish by nature.
Aside from the cast members, the ‘Strange Things’ season 2 episodes have also been confirmed with a teaser video revealing the titles of the upcoming episodes. The second season will reportedly be set in 1984- one year after the story of the previous installment ended.
However, director Shawn Levy has not been keen in revealing the storyline that highlights the small town and its “Upside Down.”
“All I’m going to tell you about season two… Look, as much as people are dying to know what happened, I think the reason Stranger Things has become the phenomenon it has is because no one knew what was coming,” the director told Screen Rant “I think there’s this delicious torture in not knowing.”
Nonetheless, fans can expect the same ambiance, storytelling and thrill that was evident in the first season.
“We want to follow the same guidelines we were following last year when we made this show that no one knew about and no one cared about. But I will say we have some very interesting ideas cooking for season two,” Levy added.
The ‘Stranger Things’ season 2 premiere has been set for 2017, although the release date is yet to be announced.
