Even in a crowded world of video game franchises, Street Fighter, which has been around since the early nineties, is still alive and well.  The fighting game franchise was given life again earlier this year with Street Fighter V, and like its main competitor, Mortal Kombat X, Street Fighter V is kept alive with some Downloadable Characters (DLCs).  The latest is Ibuki, but is she going to be the last DLC, or are there more to come?

If you are not familiar with Ibuki, she is a very energetic ninja girl that first appeared in Street Fighter III.  She has an outfit that is a cross between a ninja and a school uniform, and she does a lot of command dashes, kunai throws, and a slide to the neckbreaker special move.  She also has a new move that consists of throwing a bomb and floating in mid-air with the assistance of a kite.

According to GMA News Online, Street Fighter V has a character roster of 16 fighters, and then there are 6 other additional fighters that will be available.  So far, Alex and Guile have already been revealed and included with the game's most recent updates.

In addition to Ibuki, there is also a report from Shoryuken that there will be a cinematic story mode expansion coming later this June.  By the way, Ibuki is kind of a delay, but this isn't the first time that Street Fighter V has suffered its share of delays, as that "Zenny Shop" was originally meant to launch in March with Alex.

Ibuki will be making her debut in Street Fighter V in June.  Considering that Alex landed on Street Fighter V just before the end of March, and Guile showed up at the end of April, I am seeing a pattern here.  It seems like a new Street Fighter character is showing up at the end of each month!

So who is next?  Many reports are pointing to Dudley, the English boxer, Gotch the butler, and another ninja warrior with Sarai Kurosawa.  Capcom hasn't exactly been forthright about what characters are coming when, and these characters might not even be playable.

So with three new DLCs coming within the next three months, this means that the game will be out of new DLC by September at the earliest.  So what is next for more downloadable content from Capcom's famous fighting game?  At this point, I would not be surprised if they took a page from the Mortal Kombat X playbook and begin adding player character fighters that aren't even related to Street Fighter, but might be connected to other franchises.

If you think about it, Mortal Kombat X has its Kombat packs that feature Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre series, the xenomorph from the Alien series, and Predator from the Predator series.  Is it not possible for Capcom to get in on this unconnected Street Fighter fighter action?
