The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is one particular video game that has captured the imagination of the masses, what with speedruns being carried out and such. In fact, it has been heralded as one of the best games to be released this year, receiving plenty of praise from gamers of all pedigrees. There is a very good reason for this: Nintendo has pulled all the stops in order to make sure that it is a success, what more as a launch title for their latest console, the Nintendo Switch. However, we do know that no single game is perfect, which is why a brand new update has been released for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and this patch will be version 1.1.2 as it arrives on both the Nintendo Switch and the Wii U.
If there is one sore point that we have to contend with Nintendo, it is this: not revealing too many facts and details in the changelog. The same could be said of patch 1.1.1 which was released approximately one fortnight back, and this disturbing “trend” has continued. Nintendo did mention that “adjustments have been made to make for a more pleasant gaming experience.” I suppose that until a more detailed explanation is given through official channels, us gamers will simply need to take Nintendo’s word for it.
In patch 1.1.1 for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, gamers reported that frame rates improved in the Nintendo Switch version, but there was no marked improvement for frame rates where Wii U gamers were concerned. It is with crossed fingers that patch 1.1.2 will be able to offer at the bare minimum, such improvement for Wii U gamers this time around.
So far, those who have already installed update 1.1.2 have not complained about any kind of performance issues or problems. This is a good sign for starters, since the game does not crash or showcase bugs of any sort. On the other hand, some gamers suspected that the frame rates have been further boosted through the lowering of its graphics performance in certain cases, but all of these are nothing but experiences based on feeling and are unquantifiable.
We do wish that the folks over at Nintendo would actually provide the faithful masses with something more than such a vague description to go on. It is only responsible to do so, and the informed masses would appreciate the company all the more if that was done. What does Nintendo have to lose in the first place by providing detailed information on what each new patch or update does to the game? There is no shame to it at all, Nintendo.
Hopefully more gamers who love The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will speak up through social media and other forms of official channels with Nintendo to help them change their stance in the future when it comes to game updates.
