‘The Legend of Zelda’ Wii U Release Date and Lack of News from Nintendo

By Mark Rollins

One of my personal favorite games of all time is The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.  This game was released in 2006 for the Wii, and I still play it on the Wii U, as there are so much content and open world to it that it deserves a 10 out of 10.  I bring this up because Nintendo followed up Twilight Princess with the successful Skyward Sword five years later, and fans want to see the follow-up to that with whatever The Legend of Zelda for the Wii U will be, and here is the possible release date.

Considering that a new Wii U version The Legend of Zelda is one of the most long-awaited video games, one would think that Nintendo would have constant updates about how the game is progressing.  Vine Report states that the game is already in the final stages of development and so it is slated for launch this year.  However, this is an old rumor, and there still isn't a narrowed-down release date.

It has been reported that Eiji Aonuma, the producer of The Legend of Zelda is working on the text and title for this Wii U console.  The producer has said that is one of the last steps.  If that is the case, then it is certain that Nintendo will have a big announcement at E3 2016.

For those that aren't aware, E3, the Electronic Entertainment Expo, is a big video held every year at the Los Angeles Convention Center, and it is where the big gaming companies make their big announcements, usually for products to be released at holiday season of that year.  A Legend of Zelda for the Wii U announcement would be welcome by fans.

Also, welcome by fans would be the announcement of the Nintendo NX, the next generation of Nintendo console.  Like the Wii U version of Zelda, the only word on this next generation of console is steeped in rumor.  Should Nintendo announce this at E3, then there would almost be no point to having a Legend of Zelda game for the Wii U.  Unless they want to make two separate versions of the game, which will probably happen anyway.

After all, Nintendo Wii U users were already given something to satiate their new Zelda cravings with Hyrule Warriors, plus releases of Windwaker and the most recent Twilight Princess to the Wii U.  If Nintendo attempts to bring a Wii U version of Skyward Sword, then I would say that they have gone too far and needed to give fans what they truly want.  However, that confirmed release date for The Legend of Zelda for the Wii U alludes the fans.
