For those that can't wait to get back to Rick and his group of survivors as they take on a world of the undead, you won't have to wait much longer. The Walking Dead Season 6 will have its Premiere Date on October 11th at 9 PM on AMC with a 90-minute long episode called "First Time Again".
As those that watched Season 5 remember, the last few episodes dealt with Rick and his gang essentially settling down in a town called Alexandria, located close to Washington D.C. Alexandria is a walled city made to keep the walkers out, but the team had a hard time adjusting to the ease of it all.
In the midst of this group PTSD experience, some of the group insisted on leaving the town just to take on walkers, as well as forage for supplies. Daryl managed to meet up with Morgan, and it looks like Morgan will be joining Rick back at Alexandria with the rest.
Last season, Rick had problems with a husband in Alexandria who was beating his wife, and Rick wanted to exact justice on him in the form of death or exile. By the end of the season, the leader of Alexandria was practically giving him his blessing to shoot him.
In the comic-book source material, Alexandria was essentially the same place as it is in the TV series. The issue was not only could Rick's group of survivors not adapt to its peace and safety, but it turns out Alexandria isn't so safe after all. Eventually, a group of walkers finds weaknesses in the walls around it and an invasion happens. The trailer from Comic-Con shows what could be that invasion, and Rick is either being granted or taking emergency powers from the leaders at Alexandria to fight against this new threat.
Granted, the comic books and the TV series do not always line up, so there could be some changing in the story from the original source material. There is a report on Den of Geek that Tom Payne has been cast as Paul "Jesus" Monroe, a character straight from the comics that will meet Rick and his survivors. It is also revealed that Xander Berkeley, a veteran actor, will be playing a villain, and this could be Negan, a terrifying tyrant from the comics. Should he be introduced, that will signal another page in The Walking Dead saga from the comics that leads to an all out war.
Season 5 introduced the television audience to The Wolves, a gang of survivors who likes to mark the walkers with a "W" carved into their forehead. Other than the two that Morgan met in the Season 5 finale, their agenda has not been fully revealed. It is possible that they will be invading Alexandria as well, perhaps before, during, or after the undead horde gets there. The Wolves look to be another group that wants survival and don't care who dies for them to get it.
In short, it will be quite a season for The Walking Dead with Season 6. Catch it on AMC on October 11 at 9 PM.
