Game publisher Electronic Arts has confirmed that the second installment in its "Titanfall" series will come out near the end of this year. The company also maintained that it's not worried about releasing the game alongside its other upcoming major title, "Battlefield 1."
According to PlayStation Lifestyle, "Titanfall 2" will come out during the third quarter of the fiscal year of 2017, with puts the game's release date somewhere between October to December this year. And, unlike its prequel, the second "Titanfall" game will not be an Xbox-exclusive title and will also come out for the PlayStation 4 as well as the PC.
Given the release period of the upcoming game, various analysts said that it might clash with the debut of "Battlefield 1." Specifically, they noted that the fans' reception of either game might hurt the sales of the other.
As previously confirmed, "Battlefield 1" will be released worldwide on Oct. 21 of this year and like "Titanfall 2," it will also be available for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows. Due to the fact that both titles are shooters, these games could end up polarizing the market.
But, despite this notion, EA firmly believes that both games will do well upon their release. The company noted that even though they fall within the same genre, these two games cater to different types of players.
"Some people play very quick play, some people more strategic play, and some people want both in different context," Andrew Wilson, the CEO of EA said in a statement. "The result of those, we feel like we actually have a really strong position to deliver the broadest set of gameplay mechanics as it relates to first-person shooter genre across the two titles, and feel very confident that we are well-positioned to do very well in that category in a year."
"Certainly as you see, the reception around 'Battlefield 1 we feel very good about that," he added. "The energy around 'Titanfall 2' is also building very nicely, and we look forward to showing more of both of those titles at EA Play in June."
