MMA Fighter Connor McGregor landed a role in the internationally acclaimed series "Game of Thrones" for the next season.

UFC President Dana White confirmed the rumors of McGregor playing a character in the show during an interview of Fox Sports Live.

"I knew a few months ago they were interested in putting him in the show," White said. "And I'm glad he did it. It'll be great."

Directors and show runners David Benioff and Dan Weiss are said to be a big fan of UFC. They believed that McGregor would be a good addition and a 'perfect fit' for the series. McGregor would be performing his role in the remaining two seasons of "Game of Thrones", according to Huffington Post.

The UFC Fighter is said to portray a mute crew in Euron Greyjoy's ship, "The Silence". He is believed to remain silent during the course of the show as his character is said to have his tongue cut out. Everyone in Euron's crew shares the same fate of being mute as it is where the ship earned its name as "The Silence", according to The Sun.

McGregor's video sparring with Hafpor Julius Bjornsson, who plays "The Mountain", already reached more than 20 million views. Speculations rise that McGregor might face "The Mountain" as he was already acquainted with the actor.

McGregor recently announced that he will be taking a time off after UFC 205 to devote some time with his pregnant girlfriend, Dee Devlin.

This time off from the battle field  on a UFC stage could also allow him to be more flexible in spending more time for the "Game of Thrones" franchise where he will be entering a battlefield filled with Lannisters, Starks, the Undead, and the whole of Westeros.

Meanwhile, his triumph against Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 made him the first champion who acquired both the lightweight and featherweight title belts. Controversy arise as UFC wanted to strip him off the Featherweight title belt because of him not defending the title for a year.

McGregor turn to social media to voice his dissatisfaction in UFC's decision. He further flaunted the two belts through a video in Instagram.
