The Walking Dead Season 6 Release Date, Spoilers: Alexandria Will Get A Facelift, Buried Note for Rick

The Walking Dead Season 6.
Coming in October. AMC

The official release date of the season 6 premiere of The Walking Dead is coming on AMC starting on Sunday, October 11, but this early, we are receiving a plethora of information about the hugely-successful series that will surely ignite our curiosity.

For starters, Alexandria will be a different place now that Rick Grimes a.k.a. Andrew Lincoln, was given more authority by community leader, Deanna Monroe, who has practically gave Rick has the keys to the mint to do what he wants.

Gone will be the days for the original folks of Alexandria who are accustomed to having dinner parties, baking and enjoying a good life, shielded from the dangers outside. This lifestyle is almost insulting to Rick's group who has seen their close friends and even relatives get eaten by zombies.

Norman Reedus, who plays fan-favorite Daryl Dixon, in The Walking Dead franchise told Entertainment Weekly that the next season would be "much different than the previous seasons." "It's kind of our group being okay with stability and fighting stability and figuring out if we can actually live with other people."

In the last season, it was clear that some members of Rick and Daryl's group were able to adjust and settle down in Alexandria than others. In the last few episodes, we caught glimpses of Daryl struggling with his loyalty to Rick and Carol (Melissa McBride) and his new found friend Aaron (Ross Marquand).

Daryl described his character as somewhat of a "wile animal" the he finds it difficult to really settle down, even at a peaceful place like Alexandria.

"You've taken a bunch of wild animals and put them in a domestic environment, and some of them prefer to be wild animals, and some of them can't figure out how to be anything other than that," he said. "So we've come to a place where we can live with the public or live in a community and us having inner turmoil with trying to discover if that's possible at all."

It would be interesting to follow how the new "political system" inside Alexandria will play out under Rick's "authoritarian rule" and how they will survive a huge Walker attack as shown in the this trailer.

Buried Note for Rick Grimes

The Walking Dead showrunner Scott M. Gimple told Entertainment Weekly, that there is a buried personal note for Rick that is still yet to be found in the woods of Georgia. In his commentary on the season 5 premiere episode titled, No Sanctuary, with Gale Anne Hurd, Gimple said he buried the note together with the bag of weapons Rick buried outside the gates of terminus.

If you will remember at the end of Season 4, Rick buried a bag full of weapons in the woods before he entered Terminus as his back-up plan. That same bag was recovered by Rick and his gang when they escaped Terminus. Gimple, thinking that they will shoot the same scene for Season 5, inserted a personal note for Rick to find when he later dug up the bag a year later.

However, the bag retrieval scene in season 5 of The Walking Dead was filmed somewhere else leaving the personal note unrecovered, and unread, at this time.

Gimple said on his commentary, "What I had done. I had buried a note for ourselves when we put the dirt back in the hole that Rick had dug, because Andy did want to dig the hole. And then we wound up shooting this in just a slightly different place. And that note is still out there somewhere."

Hurd quickly commented back, "Oh my goodness. There is going to be a scavenger hunt to find the note! I hope it's a note you don't mind if people read."

But Gimple said doused any hope for would-be scavenger hunter that the note would provide key information. He added, "It might be a little corny. That's about it."

But certainly, loyal fans of The Walking Dead are not prevented from looking for that mysterious not. Happy hunting! It is still out there!
