If you are not familiar with the first Watch Dogs game, it was an action adventure game from Ubisoft set in Chicago that is controlled by cTOS a CenTralized Operating System that controls about everything in the city itself. The main character Aiden Pearce tried to seek revenge after the death of his niece, and he was going to hack the city to do it. The game received good reviews and success, and something with a premise like this was just bound to have a sequel. Ubisoft has released a trailer for Watch Dogs 2 before E3 2016 even begins. This is what to expect as far as Watch Dogs 2 release date and news.
A trailer for the game can be found below, and it is pretty obvious that Chicago has been left behind for San Francisco. The trailer shows SF in all of its glory, including tourist locations like the World Famous Sea Lions and Lombard Street. It almost looks like a GTA game with its realistic graphics and street feel, and parts of the game will also include Oakland and Silicon Valley, according to IGN. It is a very appropriate location for a game about hacking and the world of technology, and it looks to be better than the original. It also looks like the tone is less dark, opting for a more rich color palette of the Bay area.
In addition to the location change, there is also going to be a change of the main character as there will be a new main character named Marcus Holloway. Marcus is from Oakland, and gets into trouble when ctOS incorrectly profiles him. It looks like the game is going to have a lot of hacking as well as parkour. Mashable states that the sequel steps up the original game with "a whole new set of tools and an expanded range of hackable targets".
It is strange that this trailer has been released now, as E3, the big video game conference held every year at the Los Angeles Convention Center, runs next week from June 14-16. Ubisoft is even expected to have a press conference the day before on Monday, June 13, at 1 PM Pacific Time.
Hopefully, this doesn't spoil the surprise, but we have already reported that Watch Dogs 2 was in the works. Surely, Ubisoft will have demonstrations of Watch Dogs 2 ready for E3 2016 attendees to play. Fans won't have to wait long for the sequel, as Watch Dogs 2 will be released just in time for the Thanksgiving/holiday/Christmas season on November 15, 2016 for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
