With the Republican presidential contenders in South Carolina on both Wednesday and Thursday of this week, they are preparing for two town halls ahead of the state's February 20th primaries. CNN Politics notes that Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio "struck markedly different tones" at the Wednesday night presidential town hall. Donald Trump, John Kasich, and Jeb Bush will appear in the second town hall on Thursday night.
So far, according to poll from NBC News and the Wall Street Journal, Ted Cruz is ahead of Republican voters nationally, according to CNBC. Considering that Donald Trump was at the top of the same poll last month (Trump at 33 percent and Cruz at 20 percent), it shows how things will change in the next few months. This month's poll showed that Cruz is at 28 percent, Trump is at 26 percent, Marco Rubio is at 17 percent, John Kasich at 11 percent, Ben Carson at 10 percent, and Jeb Bush at 4 percent.
The Republican Debate will take place on February 25th, in Houston, Texas, and sponsored by CNN and Telemundo. According to AL.com, the debate was originally scheduled to be held on February 26th and broadcast on NBC, but Republicans moved the debate from the network after questions of moderator bias in a previous event.
At this present time, there doesn't seem to be any news about the start time of the debate, just the date. Even the ticketing for the event at US Presidential Election News is pretty silent about it. It would not be good to estimate the start time, but those who want to see it on television should check CNN for the start time.
It is a safe bet to say that the event will be livestreamed. CNN has hosted debates in the past before, and they have always had good number coming from the amount of livestreaming users as well as those that are just interested in watching the debates online. The next Republican debate will take place on March 3, in Detroit, Michigan. This debate will be hosted by Bret Baier, Chris Wallace, and Megyn Kelly. Considering that Donald Trump boycotted the last Fox debate due to his feelings for the network and Megyn Kelly, it will be interesting to see if this happens again. Then there will be a March 10 Republican Debate in Miami, again hosted by CNN as well as the Washington Times and the Salem Media Group.
As for the Democrats, their next debate will be on March 6 in Flint, Michigan.
