With a week already past in the month of August, Microsoft's Xbox Live Gold members can still avail of two free games for Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoles as Microsoft is giving away free games at a rate of two Xbox One, and two Xbox 360 games per month.

Those who were not able to get the free Metro 2033 for Xbox 360 and Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeros for Xbox One, which both became available starting August 1 up to the 15th of this month, you can still avail of the next round of free games for Xbox Live Gold members starting August 16.

Starting Sunday next week, Xbox Live Gold members can download the Metro: Last Light for Xbox 360 and How to Survive: Storm Warning Edition for Xbox One for free. Non-Xbox Live Gold members can still download the games but they have to shell out $19 per game.

Xbox Live Gold members do not actually need download the game during the promotion period but they must complete the free "purchase" online or via their console in order to qualify. After the promo period expires, downloading the game will be charged $19.

Players with active Xbox Live Gold memberships (excluding trial memberships and "free Gold" weekends) may download the games during their respective availability periods. When downloaded, the game belongs to the user even if they subsequently drop their Xbox Live Gold membership. Two titles are released a month, with the exception of April 2015 (which saw the release of four games, two in each half) and June 2014 (which saw a third game released alongside the second to celebrate the one year anniversary of the program). The first game is free to download from the first of the month until the fifteenth, and then the second being available to download from the sixteenth until the end of the month.
