'Dishonored 2' Release Date for PS4, Xbox One, PC; Bethesda to Offer Dishonored Definitive Edition

Dishonored 2 is coming.
Expect it in 2016.  Bethesda

Although E3, the Electronic Entertainment Expo that is held annually at the Los Angeles Convention Center, won't begin until June 16-18 2015, these conferences often have pre-show announcements.  In the case of Bethesda, the gaming company responsible soon-to-be released games like Fallout 4 and a new version of Doom, they accidentally announced a new game: Dishonored 2.  This is what has been confirmed about Dishonored 2 Release Date and News.

According to Ubergizmo, Bethesda accidentally announced Dishonored 2 hours before its official press conference.  It was confirmed through what appears to be some type of slip up with an open mic broadcasting on official Bethesda stream on Twitch, the live streaming video platform owned by Amazon.com.

This stream was a discussion that involved a presentation by Harvey Smith, the co-director of the original Dishonored title, as well as Arkane president Raph Colantonio. Arkane Studios is responsible for Dishonored as well as other popular video game titles.   It was at the end of the stream when listeners could actually hear someone telling the speakers what they were talking about was actually being broadcasted over Bethesda's Twitch Stream.

So at Bethesda's E3 showcase on Sunday evening, Smith and Colantonio took the stage for what has been called E3's worst kept secret.  According to Ars Technica, these designers emphasized their commitment to games that use simulation rather than scripting.

If you are not familiar with Dishonored, it has a very unusual look to it.  It takes place in an industrial city of Dunwall, on some other world entirely, but it resembles Victorian London.  For this reason, the game has a dark steampunk look that is pretty unique.  The action is based on stealth and combat as the city is infected by a serious plague.  It looks like Dishonored 2 will have the players being offered the choice of playing the first game's Corvo Attano or as Emily Kaldwin, a masked assassin princess.

According to IGN, a recent tweet shows that Dishonored 2 should be available sometime in 2016.  They also have the official story summary: "Dishonored 2 is set 15 years after the Lord Regent has been vanquished and the dreaded Rat Plague has passed into history. An otherworldly usurper has seized the throne from Empress Emily Kaldwin, leaving the fate of the Isles hanging in the balance. As either Emily Kaldwin or Corvo Attano, travel beyond the legendary streets of Dunwall to Karnaca - a once-dazzling coastal city that holds the key to restoring Emily to power. Armed with the mark of the Outsider and powerful new supernatural abilities, hunt down your enemies and forever alter the fate of the Empire."

Unfortunately, there is no word of a release date for Dishonored 2 given at the Bethesda conference, but it will be available to play on three major platforms that include the PC, Xbox One, and PS4.  This fall (also with no specific confirmed release date) Bethesda will offer the Dishonored Definitive Edition, which contains the first Dishonored game as well as its DLC (downloadable content).  It will contain graphical enhancements for the newest version of consoles.
