Microsoft Lumia 735, 940, 940 XL Release Date, Price, Specs; 940 Series First to Come With Windows 10?

With the release of Windows 10, this has spurred interest in Microsoft's phones like the ones in the Lumia series.  The Lumia 735 has already been released, and it doing pretty well.  There are two other phones from the Lumia series, the 940 and 940 XL, that could be the first phones to come with Windows 10.  This is what is known about the Microsoft 735, 940, 940 XL release dates, price, and specs.

As far as the Lumia 940 and 940 XL are concerned, these could be the first Windows phones to run Windows 10, according to PC Advisor.  This does mean that the smartphones will have a later release date, as the actual release date of Windows 10 is pretty vague with "Sometime in July 2015".  That is what we previously reported, but a recent report from the iDigitalTimes sets it for a November 2015 release date.  There are reports that it could have a more expensive than the iPhone, at least the one that is out now. 

As far as the specs of the 940 and 940 XL are concerned, here is what we know, starting with the 940.  The 940 will have a 5.2 inch WQHD (1440 x 2560) display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chip, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage with microSD expansion, 3,000 mAh removable battery, USB Type-C port, and Qi Wireless charging with a flip cover.  The cameras will be a 20 Megapixel type on the rear and a 5 Megapixel type on the front.  It will also have an Iris scanner, which will really make this a secure phone. 

The Lumia 940 XL has a 5.7 inch WQHD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, as well as a 3,300 mAh battery.  The rest of the features are identical to that of the Lumia 940.  They both are expected to have a matte white or black polycarbonate exterior, and may include new software like Windows Hello and Microsoft Continuum.  Ecumenical News reports that the 940 and 940 XL will have advanced features like 3D-Interaction, Iris Scanner, and pen support.

We reported on the Microsoft Lumia 735 about a month ago, and since then,  the phone has been released and has received a lot of great reviews such as a 4.3/5 average user rating and 83.33 percent of users recommending this product, according to Microsoft

For those that are interested in buying, there are the specs:  The Lumia 735 has a 4.7-inch 720p OLED display (1280 x 720) up front and powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor and 1 GB of RAM, which is supplemented with microSD card support up to 128 GB and 15 GB of OneDrive cloud storage. "The Smartphone for Selfies" has a full HD 5 MP front-facing camera is also installed with a wide angle f/2.4 sensor, and the rear-facing camera is at 6.7 Megapixels.
