Mortal Kombat X DLC Release Date and Characters Update: Will There Be a Kombat Pack 2?

Mortal Kombat X
Expect a lot of DLC content.

Mortal Kombat X fans are now awaiting Kombat Pack 2, after release of classic character Tremor. As of now, the KP2 release date remains unannounced. The first Kombat Pack also includes the playable character Tanya as well as classic skins for Kano, Sonya and Liu Kang. MKX is currently available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The release date for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 editions is expected to be within August 2015.

Is Rain and Fujin in Kombat Pack 2?

YouTuber Dynasty recently speculated on the meaning of yet another Ed Boon tease. This time, Boon tweeted an image of an orangutan hugging a dog. The caption reads, "Thunder Buddies for life."

Dynasty pointed out that the tweet was a reference to the comedy film Ted, starring Mark Wahlberg. Based on the Mortal Kombat observer's hypothesis, the two so-called friends are Rain and Fujin. The rationale behind the argument is that Rain's attacks are lightning-based while Fujin's moves are wind-based.

Naturally, this information is based solely on theory. While it is fun to speculate, fans will still need to wait for more official information from NetherRealm.

Kombat Pack 2 Continues to Intrique Fans

Over the past days, MK co-creator Ed Boon has been teasing Kombat Pack 2 over at Twitter. This week, a fan tweeted a manipulated image showing a billboard with the question, "When is KP2 Coming?"

"Um...what are you trying to tell me?" Boon cheekily replied.

During a live Twitch broadcast last month, Mortal Kombat X developer NetherRealm Studios said that Tremor was the last addition to Kombat Pack 1. This reference surprised viewers, whom were previously told that there was only one Kombat Pack.

It is not entirely impossible for there to be additional content for Mortal Kombat X. In the latest quarterly earnings report by parent company Time Warner, MKX was listed as a major contributor to the 15 percent increase in the company's reported income of $3.3 Billion in Q2 2015.

There is very little to doubt whether additional MKX downloadable content is coming. The only question is when. For now, there is virtually no information that can offer any meaningful guesses at the Kombat Pack 2 release date.
