Fans who are waiting to take the new 2016 Chevy Camaro for a spin may have to wait a little longer as General Motor has not yet announced an official release of the latest generation of the Camaro muscle car.

Are report by Auto Guide unveiled a series of pictures showcasing the 2016 Camaro at the recent Detroit's annual Woodward Dream Cruise and added that the upcoming muscle car is expected to be available in dealership in the later part of this year.

The new car is poised to present a serious challenge to the redesigned Ford Mustang in the muscle car sale race. As an added excitement to fans, both cars have undergone major modifications and upgrades.

General Motors executive vice president of Product Development Mark Reuss stated in the official web site of Chevrolet,, "Redesigning the Camaro is thrilling and challenging all at once, but the secret is to offer something more," he said. "For Camaro enthusiasts, it retains iconic design cues and offers even more performance. For a new generation of buyers, the 2016 Camaro incorporates our most innovative engineering ideas with finely honed performance and leading design."

However, industry observers believe the 2016 Camaro has an edge over its nearest rival, the Ford Mustang. Aside from having a sleeker body, different platform, new engines and new interior and exterior details, the sixth generation Camaro also offers a more adept and faster driving experience because of its lighter architecture design. The smaller, economical and friendlier version of the 2016 Chevy Camaro compares better than its rivals.

Auto Guide said, "Like Ford's pony car, the Camaro has added a small turbocharged four-cylinder engine to its lineup, though unlike the Mustang the turbo four banger will act as the Camaro's base engine making 275 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. Moving up, a 3.6-liter V6 is the mid-range engine offering 335 hp and 284 lb-ft of torque while a 6.2-liter V8 still acts the top-dog motor making 455 hp and 455 lb-ft of torque."

A separate report by TechNews Today revealed that the all new Chevy Camaro offers the latest and high-tech powertrains. Its new engineering design makes its body 28% structurally, removing all the excess weight from the fifth generation predecessor. The 2016 Chevy Camaro weighs 200 pounds less than the previous Camaros, the report said.

But while the latest Camaro is lighter, it is also more powerful. The new car has OnStar 4G LTE, Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay, a driver mode selector, and the backup camera, along with its very own "MyLink infotainment system."

There are various reports on the exact price of the new Camaro. Cars Reviews said the base model would sell at $25,000 but TechNews Today said the entry level of the 2016 Chevy Camaro starts at $26,695, with a $995 destination charge. The price makes the new Camaro $2000 more expensive than the previous model. The V-6 Camaro is priced at $28,190 including destination charges. The V-8-powered Camaro SS has been priced at $37,295, with destination charges included.

However, the 2016 Chevy Camaro is still considered affordable considering the competition.
