The sixth installment of the popular gangster video game Grand Theft Auto will be coming in 2018. Game developer Rockstar has a policy not to release a game each year, thus the likelihood that GTA 6 will be released in 2017 as earlier announced remains bleak.

Indeed MNR reported that the main reason Rockstar has not made any announcement confirming the release date of GTA 6 is because the company has a strict policy not to release a new game every year.

Rockstar North president and the GTA series from GTA III onwards Leslie Benzies, has also confirmed about the company policy of not releasing a game every year to allow the developers sufficient time to develop a great game before releasing it to the public.

This is to prevent Rockstar from releasing a log-quality sequel to any of their titles that might only disappoint loyal gamers if production of a new game will be rushed. The company is avoiding such scenario as it could backfire against them and lose loyal customers, it said.

The report also quoted Rockstar vice president Dan Houser about strong demands from their loyal fans if they are planning on introducing a female lead character in the upcoming GTA 6 of if a female lead character is in development.

According to Houser, the developers at Rockstar are actually entertaining the idea of a female lead character in Grand Theft Auto as it might add to the fun and excitement of the game as they were not able to include on in the current GTA 5 or in their DLCs or expansion packs.

Earlier, it was reported that Ryan Gosling has accepted the offer of Rockstar to play the protagonist in the soon-to-be released GTA 6. There were also rumors that his wife, Eva Mendez, will also appear in GTA 6. The setting would be Vice City, with the time being the 1980s.The report said that Rockstar has tailor-made a protagonist for Gosling with the 80s setting.

If indeed Eva Mendez will appear in GTA 6, perhaps she will be lending the voice for the female lead character. But don't take this as a fact as this information is still a speculation as of this writing.

GTA 6 to Feature 'Perfect Map'

Tipster and Reddit user, VermillionDemonFox, hinted that the upcoming GTA 6 will have a pretty unique map. The user added that the next installment of the franchise would have all GTA maps combined into one consistent world map. The leak added that San Andreas is going to be seen in the southwest are and Las Venturas will be in San Andreas territory, and San Fiero will be taking the place of San Francisco near north of San Andreas.

However, back in October 2013, Rockstar president Leslie Benzies told Develop that they are  actually looking into bringing GTA 6 location to London come its release date.

"For this one we were down in London and the idea of the three characters popped up again," Benzies said. "We'd actually considered it for 'San Andreas' because there were three cities, but it didn't work from a tech point of view because the three characters need three times as much memory, three types of animation, and so on."

Adding, "We throw stuff in the pot, and the good stuff stays and the bad stuff disappears - there are a lot of gatekeepers at the studio, who ensure not much of the chaff makes it through. Some of the good ideas, like the three characters, stick around."
