Over a month has passed since Google announced that they were rolling out Android M (also known as version 6.0 or Marshmallow) to their newest Nexus devices.  From here, users of other and newer Android devices have to wait for their phone's manufacturers to release Android M to their device; some users may get lucky and receive their upgrade before the new year.  LG seemed very gung-ho about getting Marshmallow to their users, and it is possible that it could arrive on the LG G4, G Flex 2, G3, and G2 for U.S. subscribers at Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, and AT&T very soon. 

Android Pit reports that LG will be the first phone company to update one of its devices to Marshmallow, and that this rollout will begin with LG G4 users in Poland next week.  This is a good sign for the company as there was a plan to rollout Marshmallow to G4 users a while ago, but technical problems forced LG to cancel it. 

It looks like LG is going to get it back up in Poland, which will be a testing ground, so the global release will work out well.  This month, LG made the Marshmallow update available in Korea, which means that the Korean company has managed to spread the latest Android OS locally.  However, it is still the waiting game as it could take weeks or even months before Marshmallow is released worldwide. 

As the tradition of Android rollouts go, the most recent devices are the ones that get it first.  That means the LG G4, the company's current flagship phone will be first in line.  After that will be the LG G3, and it certainly sounds like the LG G Flex 2 will be getting an update somewhere in there.  It is quite possible that the LG G2, which will be three years old come next year, will be receiving its Android upgrade to 6.0. 

LG has really been trying to bring Marshmallow to their users as quickly as possible, and it was thought that their Poland rollout would help this.  According to Know Your Mobile, Chris Yie, Vice President and Head of Marketing Communications for LG Mobile has said, "By working closely with Google, LG has been able to bring Android 6.0 to the G4 ahead of any of our competitors.  While speed alone isn't an indicator of great service, it does go a long way toward giving consumers the confidence that LG is committed to its existing customers first."

According to the Latin Post, there is another way that LG users can get the update to Marshmalllow now, and it involves CyanogenMod. These are flashing custom ROMs made for unlocked Android devices.  It involves unlocking the bootloader on devices before the installation which can void the factory warranty. 

In other words, it is not recommended trying one of these nightly updated builds of CyanogenMod's latest custom Android ROM of Android M unless you know what you are doing.  If you are willing to take the technical risk, the CyanogenMod blog has it for the LG G4 and LG G3 Verizon (vs985).
