DC Legends of Tomorrow Release Date, Story and Cast: Can it Have a Next Season With tie-ins To The Flash, Arrow, and Supergirl

Since the CW Network has had some serious television superhero hits with Arrow, followed by The Flash, it just makes sense to take a page from Marvel's playbook and introduce a super-team with heroes from the DC Universe.  This is what is expected from DC's Legends of Tomorrow, a series that will premiere next year, with its story, cast, and release date, and there has been speculation that the show is too big to have another season.

A recent report from Cinema Blend has stated that DC's Legends of Tomorrow has a budget that is so large, that the CW network might not be able to afford a second season.  It is pretty understandable why, as shows with superheroes always have to have big battles, costumes, which adds up very fast as far as the budget is concerned.

There is a lot going on this show, as it takes place in the world established in Arrow and The Flash, also known as the DC Arrow-verse.  The plot also sounds complicated as DC's Wikia states that the show is about a time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) as he rounds up a group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat, one that will destroy time itself.

The show has no shortage of DC Universe stars, many who have appeared on other DC Arrowverse shows. Victor Garber will be reprising his role as Dr. Martin Stein, also known as the nuclear fireman Firestorm that he played on The Flash, along with actor Franz Alhusaine Drameh.  Ray Palmer, also known as The Atom, will be played by Brandon Routh, the actor best known for playing Superman in Superman Returns.  Caity Lotz will be Sara Lance, also known as the White Canary.  Ciara Renee will be Hawkgirl, and Falk Hentschel will be Carter Hall, who is an alias of Hawkman.

There will also be villains from the Arrow-verse like Wentworth Miller as Captain Cold and Dominic Purcell as Heat Wave.  Both of them appeared as partners in crime on The Flash, but they have also worked together as brothers on Prison Break.  Casper Crump will be playing the immortal and sinister Vandal Savage.  Another recurring cast member is Dr. Aldus Boardman (Peter Francis James), who is connected to the origins of Hawkman and Hawkgirl.  Regular cast members from both Arrow and The Flash will also make appearances.

Cosmic Book News reports that there might be a crossover between the DC Arrow-verse shown on Arrow, The Flash, and DC's Legends of Tomorrow with the CBS show Supergirl.  As it stands, it appears that Supergirl is kind of in its own universe, but it has brought in Superman very sparingly.  There might be a crossover as The Flash could show up on a plotline about New Krypton, a story from the comics involving 100,000 Kryptonians coming to Earth after being freed from the bottled city of Kandor.  This is still a rumor at present, but it could help out Supergirl's presently declining ratings.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow will appear on the CW on January 21, 2016.  Assuming that the Supergirl/Flash team-up is approved, and then it will appear later in the spring.
