Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update Released for Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Note 4

Latest on Android Nougat roll out. It gets rather tricky figuring out just which particular smartphone model will be on the receiving end of the latest Android operating system version.

Google's latest operating system is now rolling out to older Samsung gadgets like Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy Note Edge. The upgrade became available after Samsung updated the Galaxy S5 to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Now, here's what is currently known about Android M release date on Samsung Galaxy devices.

Galaxy Note 5 and Note 4 users under Sprint has been receiving the Android M now. The roll out is slow and gradual, so users should expect to receive a notification shortly.  Interestingly, Sprint decided to jump from Android 5.1.1 straight to Android 6.0.1, leaving Android 6.0 behind.  The mobile carrier also updated both Note 5 and Note 4 one after another.

After the upgrade, Galaxy Note 4 will have latest OS from Google, version N910PVPU4DPC1. Verizon has also rolled out the same Android version to its Galaxy Note 5 users. For the other U.S. mobile carriers, it is reported that AT&T and T-Mobile are now testing the update. Hence, both carriers are expected to release the update to their subscribers very soon.

For users who haven't yet receive a notification about the update, they can manually check for its availability. Users can check if their device is ready for update by going to About Phone > System updates > Check for update.

Due to the size of the update - approximately 1.4 GB - tech experts recommend to download it with a fast Wi-Fi connection. It is also advisable to get the update with a fully charged phone.

Aside from Note 5 and Note 4, Android Marshmallow also landed on Samsung Galaxy S5, the flagship smartphone from 2014. The upgrade initially made available in South Korea, but now it is rolling out to Galaxy S5 owners around the world. International Business Times published the Android M update has arrived for model number SM-G900L of Galaxy S5 in Trinidad and Tobago.

Some of the new features of Android M are redesigned user interface, revamped app permissions and innovative applications. The update also brings the latest security patch for March. One of the interesting features of the Android M is the Google Now on Tap, which give users an in-depth information about apps. There's also the battery-saving Doze mode.

Rumors said Google is now developing the successor of Android M, which the Android N. The details about it are still scarce, but we'll you give update once Google made an official announcement. Stay tuned with Gospel Herald for more tech news.
