’19 Kids and Counting’ Spinoff: Everyone Depends on Jill and Jessa Duggar’s Success

"19 Kids and Counting" has gotten a big hit when they were faced with the rape issue of one of the Duggars', Josh Duggar.

After the sexual allegations came out, TLC immediately paused the production of the show without any notice if they will still continue or not.

For some time, the news had died down on the show, but new reports arise as a new spinoff is possibly on its way to the small screen.

According to TLC, this spinoff will not include the entire Duggar family but will focus on the two Duggar sisters: Jill Dillard and Jessa Seewald. Though they will not be a main stay on the show, other family members will also appear including Jim and Michelle Duggar as well as Josh Duggar's wife.

Rumors suggest that the spinoff is Jim Bob's strategy to make the family visible to the public again. He might still be hoping that the network will bring back "19 Kids" without Josh.

There are no announcements on the length of this spinoff yet. It could be a testing ground for the network since they are not sure if the public would still accept the Duggars even after the controversy.

However, they have already announced a 3-episode run this December. The one and a half hour premiere will be on Dec. 13 at 8 p.m. EST. Two more episodes will be aired on Dec. 20 and Dec. 27 at 9 p.m. EST.

A source told Hollywood Gossip that the three episodes would just be a test for the sisters. If they will be received by the public, TLC will offer them a full contract.

This is a hard decision for the network and the Duggar family. TLC reported a $19 million loss when they cancelled the show last summer. They could try and bring back the entire family again if this spinoff works.

However, with this announcement, people have already expressed their dismay on the network. Facebook groups have already been formed to try and stop and spinoff. Basically, the groups are aiming for the entire family to be off television, especially since Josh's sexual scandal has been reaching new heights.

These people believe that the Duggar family is not a good example for the TV viewers.

Recently, Josh received another lawsuit from a mother of two who claimed she was assaulted.

Ashley Stamm-Northup, a porn star, claimed Josh paid $600 for a lap dance. After that, Josh followed her at the Double Tree Hotel and offered her $1500 for "companionship." Though Northup consented, she claimed she was assaulted during their time together and raped her.
