In the middle of May this year, several engineers and executives, not to mention over a thousand Camaro owners got to see the 2016 Camaro for the first time.  You can rest assured that the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is going to be quite a fancy car.  This is, after all, the sixth generation of automobiles, and it is going to be quite a year for them.  Here is what is known about the 2016 Chevy Camaro release date, specs, price, and review.

Motor Trend has stated that the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro will actually "get a smaller, faster, and nimbler".  The first development that has been made for this sixth generation of Camaro is that the 2016 Camaro is under the GM Alpha platform.  For those that are not aware of this, it currently underpins General Motor's compact to mid-size, front-engine, rear-wheel and four-wheel drives.

The Platform basics include MacPherson struts on the front, 5 link independent rear, use of high strength steel and aluminum, plus a focus on reducing weight.  This is the leaner model made to reduce weight.  The 2016 Chevorlet Camaro will lose 200 pounds, be 28 percent more stiff, and will be smaller in overall length as it has slimmed down from 190.6 inches to 188.3.  If it is anything like Camaros of the past, you can count on elegance as well as sleekness on the seats or the dashboard, as quoted by Day Herald

2016 Cars Reviews anticipates a big wide grill and the 2016 Camaro will be wider with a bigger surface area.  Many improvements for the 2016 model will most likely be in the exterior.  In addition to the aforementioned weight loss on the chassis, smaller seems to be what is going to happen this year and this will probably translate to faster.  There is a rear spoiler on the back which will increase the car's performance.

As for the engine, there will be three models as the powertrain line up is the 2.0L Turbo, the 6.2 L V8, and the 3.6L V6 according to the official Chevrolet website. The last will have the same 3.6 liter aspirated V6 from the older model, giving it 305 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque.  As for the 2.0L, it should have a new 2 liter turbocharged inline that was developed in Europe.  This will make as much as 250 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque which will use less than 40 percent less fuel than the V6.  The top of the range will have a 6.2 liter aspirated V8 with anywhere from 460 to 500 horsepower and up to 500 lb-ft of torque, making it faster than its Mustang competitors.

According to Camaro News, it would appear that order banks for the new 2016 Chevrolet Camaro will be available on August 15th the possible production starting on August 22nd.  A recent update confirms a date of August 13th, which is even sooner.

Since the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is under development, there is nothing specific known about its release date and price. However, a recent report from iDigitalTimes puts the release date as late this year.  As for the price, most are estimating starting somewhere below $25,000.
