The Eurovision Song Contest 2016 has officially kicked off and is now about to enter its semi-final stages. For this year's event, the semi-finals and finals will be held at the Ericsson Globe arena in Stockholm, Sweden.

Like every year, various contestants from different countries will be participating in the semi-finals. Specifically, 42 nations will take part in this year's contest. As noted by BBC, many of those participating are fan-favorites such as France, which will be represented by Amir who appeared in the French versions of The Voice and Pop Idol.

Russia will also take part in this year's event through one of the country's major pop-stars Sergey Lazarev, who is set to perform the song "You Are the Only One."

Australia will also make an appearance this year. Representing the country is Dami Im of Australian X-Factor who will sing "Sound of Silence.

As for the host country, Sweden is looking to snatch another win this year through radio star Frans.

Although the U.S. is not part of Eurovision Song Contest, a popular artist from the country will be heading to Sweden to perform during the interval of the finals. According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Justin Timberlake has agreed to perform in the show, marking the first time that a global artist will appear in the contest as a non-contestant.

"This is a fantastic opportunity, we are very happy and excited that Justin Timberlake will perform his new song together with his band in our show," the show's executive producer Sven Stojanovic said.

"It makes it extra special that the Swedish songwriters Max Marin and Shellback have co-written and co-produced the song together with Justin Timberlake," he added.

The first part of the semi-finals will be conducted on May 10 and the second round will happen on May 12. The finals will take place on May 14. As for those looking to watch the program, the Eurovision website will live stream the event at 9:00 pm CET during these dates. The event's YouTube channel will also stream the event along with other clips from this year's contest.
