2016 Honda Pilot
The latest edition of Honda's Pilot series

The Car Connection named Honda Pilot as "Best Car to Buy 2016." Expert editors of the website meticulously analyzed and reviewed top-class cars to determine the winner.  The latest Honda Pilot turned out to be a strong match against other cars like the Mercedes GLC; the Lexus RX; the Chevy Camaro and Malibu; the Kia Optima and the Volvo XC90.

Now, here's the 2016 Honda Pilot release date, specs and news.

Car experts applauded the completely redesigned Honda Pilot. The car's angular lines and boxy shape were distinctive, but weren't exactly sleek and didn't look all that aerodynamic. With refined interior details and raked-back grille, the car begins to look quite stylish inside and out.

Some people believe family vehicles do not have optimum performance, but the Pilot will prove them wrong. Its powerful V-6 produces 280 horsepower through a new nine-speed transmission on the Pilot Elite, or six-speed automatic on the other versions. There's also smooth feeling while driving the car that doesn't get harsh even with big 20-inch wheels, and its drivers have more relaxed steering for the excellent driving experience.

As for utility features, front-wheel drive is standard on the Pilot, but buyers can also choose an all-wheel drive, which is suitable for heavy-duty tasks like driving through mud pits or snow. The car can also tow more than 5,000 pounds.

Have a peace of mind with Pilot's reliable safety system. A rearview camera is standard, alongside with blind-spot monitors and a side-view camera. Moreover, forward-collision warnings with automatic braking are available for more safety features.

Honda's LaneWatch, which provides a camera on the right side mirror to show the adjacent lane when the right turn signal is on, is also standard on some Honda Pilot versions. However, the feature is not available in the Touring version of the car.

"Driving the Pilot is overall an enjoyable experience. A few niggling issues: there's a certain degree of truckiness to it some people moving from a car or minivan might find objectionable," a reviewer from Chronicle Herald said. Overall, most of the reviews said the 2016 Honda Pilot is an innovative SUV perfect for everyday use.

Here are some of the specs of 2016 Honda Pilot:

  • Steering: electric power-assist rack-and-pinion
  • Engine: 3.5-litre SOHC V-6
