After going through a disappointing loss against the Miami Heat in this year's playoffs, Jeremy Lin might be considering leaving the Charlotte Hornets to become a free agent this season. According to various sources, this could be an opportunity for the point guard to join a team that will treat him as a starter.

During the start of the first round of the playoffs, the Hornets suffered two losses against Heat. But then, the Charlotte team was able to stage a comeback and even led the series to 3-2. However, the Heat was able to fight back in Game 6 and 7 to win the series.

Although Lin is not a starter, he is probably the most valuable players on the Hornets' reserve list. During the playoffs, particularly between Games 3 and 5, he helped the team tie and eventually lead the series. However, when Game 6 rolled in, Charlotte fans saw how Lin struggled on the court.

This is the reason that could cause Lin to revisit his contract options. Specifically, he might leave the Hornets after this season to become a free agent and possibly join another team, Sportsrageous reported.

He officially became a part of the Hornets roster in 2015 after signing a two-year contract worth $4.3 million. But, given his experience in Charlotte, he might consider becoming a free agent this year to possibly look for a team that could maximize his skills and even give him a starting position.

After all, given Lin's current ranking within the Hornets roster, he would be better off joining a team that would greatly appreciate his skills as a player and point guard.

In fact, according to various sports analysts, Lin is not the top free agent of the Hornets. For them, he is behind Nic Batum, Marvin Williams and Al Jefferson, Yibada reported.

Money-wise, it would be a good move for Lin to move out of Charlotte because this will increase his chances of landing in a team that's willing to pay and treat him as a starter. This will also give him more exposure as a player and highlight his ball-handling skills.
