With the season coming to a close, it seems the Dallas Mavericks will lose three of its key players to the free agency market. According to various reports, these include Dirk Nowitzki, Chandler Parsons and Deron Williams.

In a report by Star Telegram, Nowitzki might opt out of the last year in his contract, which would take effect next season and is worth $8.7 million. By doing so, the power forward will be able to test the free agency waters and possibly join a new team.

Although Nowitzki is free to follow this option, it seems the Mavericks will not let him simply walk away without putting up a fight. Given his status with the team, Dallas will most likely offer him a new contract with a better deal.

"There is not a player that I've been around that has his kind of winning software," Donnie Nelson, the Mavericks' president of basketball operations said. "He's our Roger Staubach, our Troy Aikman, our Mike Modano, Nolan Ryan. That's who he is, he deserves the courtesy of the first sit-down."

Another athlete that's rumored to become a free agent next season is Parsons. According to reports, he has already explicitly said that he will exercise this option later this year. But, unlike Nowitzki, Parsons might have a hard time negotiation a good deal with other teams given his physical status. After all, he missed the rest of this season after undergoing surgery in his right knee in March.

Mavs owner Mark Cuban had previously said that this could affect Parsons' value as a player.

"It's definitely a concern, but that's up to the doctors to deal with," he said. "So yeah, it is a concern, but that's why we have doctors and we'll let them do their jobs."

As for Williams, ESPN reported that the athlete intends to decline the $5.6 million player option for next season to become a free agent. He has only been with Dallas for a year but was ruled out of the rest of the season when a left abdominal strain forced him out of Game 4 against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
