This year's NFL draft has officially kicked off which means all teams have already settled in with their first round picks. Although some picks were already expected, there were still quite a few surprises during this year's event.

As predicted, the Los Angeles Rams bagged Jared Goff followed by the Philadelphia Eagles getting Carson Wentz.

On the other hand, Joey Bosa was surprised when he was picked third by the San Diego Chargers. Although it was already expected that he would fall in the top ten, no one, especially Bosa, probably though that he will be going home with the Chargers. After all, during the weeks prior to the draft, the defensive end from Ohio State never got a call from the team for a visit, NFL.com reported.

Another surprising pick during the draft was when the Oakland Raiders chose Karl Joseph from West Virginia. For Joseph, he probably didn't think that he'll get drafted during the first round given his recent history.

During his senior year, he suffered a knee injury which ended his season with the college team. This also prevented him from showing his full potential during this year's Scouting Combine. But apparently, for the Raiders, the athlete's game films alone are enough to convince the team to sign him.

As for the Denver Broncos, the defending Super Bowl champions, the team entered the year without its two quarterbacks. After winning Super Bowl 50, Peyton Manning announced his retirement and his backup, Brock Osweiler, signed with the Houston Texans in March.

Since then, the Broncos has been searching for a starting quarterback who can lead the team. And, during this year's draft, Denver managed to snatch one by signing Paxton Lynch of Memphis, according to Yahoo Sports.

But, given his skillset and the fact that he's a quarterback, it was a bit surprising that Lynch was drafted as the 26th player. After all, there were other teams that went before the Broncos that needed a good quarterback.

The second round for this year's draft will begin later today. The entire event is scheduled to go on until April 30 for the seventh and last round.
