Ever since he was released by the Carolina Panthers, Brandon Boykin has been spending time with the Dallas Cowboys. And, according to new rumors, the NFL franchise is on the move to signing him.

Boykin officially entered the NFL in 2012 after he was drafted in the fourth round by the Philadelphia Eagles. Then, three years later, the cornerback was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for 5th round conditional pick for the 2016 NFL draft.

He then joined the Carolina Panthers in March of this year but was then released by the team to create roster space for incoming rookies.

Earlier this week, it was rumored that Boykin, who is currently a free agent, was scheduled for a meeting with the Cowboys, according to Sportsrageous. As noted by the sports news site, the team's move in getting the athlete is part of its strategy to build a strong roster by getting other players like Isiah Frey, Cameron Bradfield, Brandon Hepburn, Dax Swanson, Lawrence Okoye and Bryan Witzmann.

It seems the meeting between Boykin and the Cowboys worked out as planned since the athlete joined the team on Wednesday for a workout. Although it was initially believed that his participation in the Cowboys' offseason team activities is part of the negotiations for his new contract, other sources are suggesting that Dallas is not yet ready to sign him.

As noted by 24/7 Sports, he was just there so team officials could take a look at him. Apparently, one of the reasons why their hesitating to sign him at once is his physical condition, since it was previously rumored that he had a season-ending hip injury.

According to sports journalist Clarence Hill, Boykin already addressed this issue and blamed the Steelers for the spread of the rumors.

"Boykin blames Steelers defensive back coach Carnell Lake for the rumor that he has a hip issue," Hill tweeted. "He said he is healthy and fine."

With that matter clarified, this means that he has a huge chance of getting signed if he was able to impress the Dallas officials during the workouts.
