2016 NFL Trade Rumors: Is the Philadelphia Eagles Trying To Take Away Knile Davis From the KC Chiefs?

New reports suggest that running back Knile Davis might be leaving the Kansas City Chiefs soon. Rumors about a potential trade emerged after the team recently re-signed free agents Spencer Ware and Charcandrick West.

As reported by the Bleeding Green Nation, one NFL team that could step in to secure Davis is the Philadelphia Eagles. According to the sports news site, rumors indicate that this NFL franchise is interested in getting the running back and has even inquired about his trade.

Getting Davis could work well for the Eagles because for one, their current head coach Doug Pederson is very familiar with the athlete's playing style. In between his stint with Philadelphia, Pederson coached the Chiefs from 2013 to 2015. During his time with the team, he met Davis after he was drafted in 2013.

Of course, spending solid seasons with Davis gave Pederson the chance to mold the player. Given their history, the head coach will have no problems managing the running back if he decides to go with the Eagles.

But, another team that could get involved in the trade is the Miami Dolphins since it is currently on the lookout for running backs.

Earlier in March, the Dolphins lost Lamar Miller after he signed a four-year contract with the Houston Texans. Since then, the Miami team has been busy filling its roster with running backs such as Daniel Thomas, Isaiah Pead and MarQeuis Gray. The Dolphins also decided to retain Spencer Paysinger by re-signing him.

As noted by Yahoo! Sports, the Dolphins is still continuing its search for a running back to add to its roster. If Davis becomes available, the Miami franchise could decide to act upon this and offer him a contract.

Rumors of Davis' departure from Kansas City was caused by the contract extensions offered by the team to West and Ware. But aside from these two, the Chiefs also welcomed back Jamaal Charles, who is expected to return for the 2016 season after recovering his the injury he suffered last year, according to Fantasy Pros.

Now that the Chiefs have three running backs actively playing for its roster, it seems Davis has now become an expendable player.
