Volvo presented the XC90 crossover and the S90 sedan last month at the Detroit Autoshow. Now, the company will use the March's Geneva Motor Show to present the 2017 Volvo V90, which is designed with Scalable Product Architecture (SPA). Here's everything you need to know about the upcoming Volvo V90's release date, price and specs.
Based on a leaked photo, the 2017 Volvo V90 sports the modern, sleek features of its predecessors. The vehicle has gorgeous design, from its concave grille to its artfully beveled rear end. Its body sides are plain and the roof is less sloped than some modern cars, but it's a very attractive package.
Inside, the V90 has elegant Scandinavian-inspired interiors. The SPA technology gives the wagon a roomier cabin for its passengers. The dashboard and door panels have neat design, plus a large vertical touchscreen is good a choice for the center stack. The top-class infotainment system greets the driver behind the minimalist three-spoke steering wheel. Moreover, have a concert-like listening experience through the car's optional Bowers & Wilkins sound system.
Like the XC90 and S90, the 2017 Volvo V90 offers the same package of reliable safety features. Drive safely with Volvo's Pilot Assist semi-autonomous highway driving feature, parking assist, 360-degree cameras, active high-beams, pre-collision braking, and lane keeping assist. The wagon's Sensus touchscreen is compatible with Apple CarPlay.
As for the V90's engine, few specifics were released online about the features and powertrain combinations that will arrive in the United States.
Car and Driver reported the vehicle's base engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter T5 four-cylinder that pumps out roughly 240 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque--same engine output in the current V60/S60. If that is not enough, the next rung is the supercharged 2.0-liter T6 engine producing 316 horsepower and 295 lb-ft.
Furthermore, Volvo also plans to install T8 plug-in hybrid system on the V90, which marries a turbo- and supercharged gas engine with a battery and electric motor.
The 2017 Volvo V90 wagon is set to make its public debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show next month, and it will arrive in the U.S. in 2017. The company has not yet announced if the vehicle will have a jacked-up "Cross Country" model.
Car enthusiasts say the V90 could be considered the world's most elegant station wagon, and the one that boasts Volvo's 60-year legacy in the wagon segment.
