The British royal family released Saturday their official family portrait, featuring the eight-month old Prince George of Cambridge, during Mother's Day in United Kingdom.

Prince William and his bride - formerly the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton - were dressed in casual attire, and Prince George of Cambridge was held closely in front of his mother while the Duke managed the family pet as they lean on the sill of an open window. 

The baby looked curiosly into the face of Lupo - a black cocker spaniel - that returned the baby's gaze. The Prince William and Kate Middleton smiled graciously as the photographer snapped away, capturing the joy and gladness of the new parents for their cherished family. The portrait of the Christian royal family was taken at their mottled brick-façade home in Kensington Palace, once the domicile of William's mother, Prince Diana, in London.    

The baby wore a baby blue sweater (or jumper, as the British call it) with his name emblazoned across his chest. According to UK's Daily Mail, the sweater was made out of cashmere. 

The royal family will be going on a tour to New Zealand and Australia next month from April 7 to April 25. It is still uncertain whether the resident of the former British colonies will get to see Prince George, since it may be too young for the baby to travel.

"George being just a little over eight months old by the time they travel, I'm sure you will appreciate that the couple will have to make a final decision on those moments much closer to time," Prince William's private secretary, Miguel Head, announced earlier this month.

Photographer Jason Bell, who took the picture a few weeks ago, was also the official photographer for George's christening last October, according to The Guardian. Bell is famous for his images of Sir Paul McCartney, Scarlett Johansson and David Beckham.
