Billionaire Warren Buffett has donated a staggering 1.2 billion dollars to abortion organizations between the years 2001-2012, the cost of roughly 2.7 million first trimester abortions.
Buffett, who is listed by Forbes as the fourth richest person in the world this year, has been dubbed "The Abortion King" due to his efforts.
Although the billionaire has stated that he intends to use most of his money to "claim checks on society;' or, make the world a better place, much of his fortune has been funneled into multiple pro-abortion agencies, including Planned Parenthood, NARAL, the Population Council, and the National Abortion Federation. One such organization reportedly facilitated the abortion of 1.2 million babies last year alone.
Buffett's charity, the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation, is named after his first wife who was a strong abortion supporter. Tax returns show that most of the foundation's spending goes to abortion and contraception advocacy research.
The organization is headed by pro-abortion activist Tracy Weitz, who formerly worked for Planned Parenthood, The Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health and reportedly described abortion as a "moral action undertaken by moral agents," Fox News reports.
But Buffett hasn't simply given funds to abortion agencies in the US; he reportedly donated nearly $16 million to DKT International, which provides abortions to women in "rural and poor areas" such as India, Ethiopa and Mozambique.
In addition, Gynuity Health Projects, another international pro-choice agency, received over 9.4 million from Buffet between 2009-2011. The organization promotes Mifepristone medical abortion which, when taken, "causes the embryo to stop growing."
However, National Review reports that Buffett's involvement with abortion agencies has rarely been publicized, receiving media coverage only one time in the past several years, and Buffet himself has never spoken publically about his views on abortion.
David Callahan, a writer for Inside Philanthropy, says the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation is a "case in transparency," as the organization's most recent IRS Form 990 is from 2011.
"It's super hard to even figure out who's doing the grantmaking,' he writes "Which is crazy, because putting aside medical foundations that assist patients, STBF ranked number five in giving in 2012, shelling out $367.1 million in 2012. That total put it well ahead of such brand name biggies as Robert Wood Johnson, Kellog, OSF, Mellon and Packard."
"For most grantseekers, trying to penetrate this place is like being a tourist asking around for the Mafia in Little Italy. The website is laughably dead, focusing only on STBF's education giving while omitting huge key funding areas...if you try calling the foundation, you get a message saying that nobody is there and that they don't accept proposals, have funding guidelines, or publish an annual report," Callahan continues.
Buffett's organization also helped finance a lawsuit to overturn the ban on so-called partial-birth abortion in Nebraska, his home state and the headquarters of his company, Berkshire Hathaway.
