Alien Day is April 26. Why that particular date? In the original 1979 Alien movie directed by Ridley Scott, the place where Ripley and her team discovered the xenomorphs was a place just known as LV-426. So Alien Day is naturally on 4/26. In celebration of that day, Twentieth Century Fox Consumer products has a few treats in store, and one of them will be a limited edition replica of Ripley's Reebok Stompers that were worn in Aliens, the sequel to Alien. There have also been more news about Ridley Scott's Alien Covenant, as well as the new Alien film from director Neill Blomkamp.
These Reebok Stompers are a high requested product, and they will be available beginning today, on Alien Day. The sneakers come in the red and white colors, with shoebox packaging in an iridescent pattern and sporting the Weyland-Yutani Corp logo. They are pricey at $174.99, and they are already sold out according to Solbox. To make it even scarcer, only 36 pairs will be available in the United States, out of only 426 pairs available worldwide. There will be 1,986 (because Aliens came out in 1986) mid-cut versions of the shoe, which were worn by Lance Henrikson, the actor that played Bishop.
According to Coming Soon, over 20 cities including Austin, New York, Los Angeles, and Dallas plan to show double features of both Alien and Aliens. In Alamo locations, a pre-ordered ticket to see the films will include an Alien T-shirt, released exclusively for the event screenings and destined to be a collector's item. There will be other Alien merchandise coming out from pop culture company Mondo.
With all the celebrations set for Alien and Aliens, it might be a good time to bring up the next Alien film. This would be Alien: Covenant, directed by Ridley Scott and a sequel to Prometheus, which would be a prequel to his original Alien film. The film will star Michael Fassbender, reprising his role as the android David, as well as Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, and others.
Then there is the untitled Alien project that will be directed by Neill Blomkamp, the director of speculative fiction movies like District 9, Elysium, and CHAPPiE. The film will have Sigourney Weaver reprising her role as Ellen Ripley, and it was meant to erase the continuity set in Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection, which were not well-received by critics and audiences.
According to iDigitalTimes, the status of this untitled Alien project is that it won't happen until after Ridley Scott is done with Alien Covenant. Sigourney Weaver has been reported as saying: "I'd be really surprised if we didn't do it, because it's such a great script, and we love working together. So, it's just going to take a little bit longer to get out to you, but it'll be worth the wait."
