We have already stated in a previous article that the Samsung Galaxy and Note series are getting the KitKat update (software upgrade 4.4.4). Some may be receiving the KitKat upgrade later rather than sooner, and some users might just have to wait for the Android 5.0 Lollipop update.

Here is the roundup of the current roll out situation for the Galaxy S5, Galaxy S4, the Note 3 and Note 2 from the major U.S. carriers - Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, and T-Mobile. 

Samsung Galaxy S5

If you have Verizon and the Galaxy S5, then you should have the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update already.  In fact, I can honestly attest to that, because I have it on my Galaxy S5.  I had to check it myself under "Settings" and "About Phone".  As proof of this, I have included my screenshot as an illustration. 

If you are a Sprint owner of the Galaxy S5, you should be getting the update already.  The Master Herald reports that if you don't see the update in your system settings yet, just wait, it is likely that your batch hasn't been rolled out. 

If you are a Galaxy S5 owner and a subscriber of T-Mobile and AT&T, then you are still operating at Android 4.4.2, according to a recent report from Android Pit.  This hasn't really changed since we reported on this development a few months ago. 

Samsung Galaxy S4

Even though the latest KitKat update has not occurred on the Galaxy S5, those with the T-Mobile Galaxy S4 can get the KitKat update to 4.4.4. 

A recent report from AT&T's software updates shows that AT&T subscribers can have access to the KitKat update 4.4.4 for the Galaxy S4. 

There still isn't any word on when the Galaxy S4 will receive the 4.4.4 update.  As we have reported on before, you might have to wait until version 5.0 is released, and the rollout could be slow after that. 

Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note 2

According to the Master Herald, the Galaxy Note 3 has been cleared for AT&T, and devices are already receiving it.  GottaBeMobile states that AT&T typically rolls Android updates out in stages though given thtat this is an incremental upgrade, we expect it to roll out a little faster than usual.  There isn't any word on when the Note 3 will receive an update to KitKat 4.4.4 on Verizon, Sprint, or T-Mobile, and it could skip to 5.0 when that rolls out. 

There also appears to be no official word on the Galaxy Note 2, and it might not roll out at all, but rather skip the 4.4.4 and go to 5.0.
