The one thing that has been a constant burr in the saddle for Android users is when the next rollout is going to happen on their device. This is especially true of older devices, but even newer ones such as the Samsung Galaxy S6, the S6 Edge, the S5, the Note 4, and the Note 4 Edge have been slow in getting their rollout of 5.1.1, the latest of Android, at least at this time of writing.
The good news, according to the Venture Capital Post, is that Android 5.1.1 Lollipop has started to roll out since the past days for select Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note, and Galaxy Note Edge 4 handsets. It is the Galaxy Note 4 update that is missing, but considering how it is being rolled out on these devices listed above, it shouldn't be far.
Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge
Those that have the Galaxy S6 with T-Mobile, US Cellular, and Sprint should have it downloaded now. However, Verizon Wireless and AT&T don't have them as yet. A recent article on the International Business Times has revealed that Samsung has issued another update based on the same Android Lollipop version, for global variants of the Galaxy S6 as well as the S6 Edge.
Samsung Galaxy S5
As for the Galaxy S5, there has been reports from about a month ago from iDigitalTimes saying that "work begins, but no release date yet". As an owner of this phone with Verizon as my carrier, I believe that my Android number is still 5.0 on my Settings. You should have received the update as well if you are with T-Mobile, while other US major mobile carriers have not officially announced it as yet.
Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge 4
Galaxy Note 4 and Note 4 Edge users should have started to receive their updates if they are with Sprint. We have already mentioned the Note 4, but there has been a leak of an Android 5.1.1 test with this smartphone/phablet, but still no official notification.
This leads us to "the rest" when it comes to the Samsung Galaxy series. I'm talking about models like the Galaxy S4, the Galaxy Note 3, the Galaxy Note 2, as well as other 2014 Galaxy tablets that are still stuck with Android 5.0 Lollipop. As it turns out, mobile carriers as well as Samsung might just release directly the 5.1.1 version and skip the 5.1 and 5.0.1 upgrades.
Of course, a lot of this information listed above might be made moot with the release of Android M this year. This is the newest version of Android that was announced at Google I/O developer's conference, but there hasn't been a formal release date of it as yet.
