Now that Google has made the rollout of Android 6.0, also known as Android M or Marshmallow, an official business with an announcement of two new Nexus devices, the question remains of when Marshmallow will be rolling out to all other newer, yet older, Android devices. So far, some devices in the LG G series are stuck not even receiving the previously newer version of Android Lollipop, version 5.1.1. There are also questions on when Marshmallow will come to the LG G4, G3, and if it will come to the G2 at all. As for the HTC One M8 and the HTC M9, Marshmallow will be arriving quite soon.
The LG G4, LG G3, and LG G2
As far as the LG G series is concerned, there are still reports of being stuck without the latest version of Lollipop, version 5.1.1. One change that has happened recently is that the LG G3 for Verizon has recently received its update to 5.1.1, according to Tech Times.
It should be known that LG G4 and the G3 are planned to be receiving the Marshmallow update, but there isn't really a plan for a release date, specifically. This goes for the LG G2, which might not even receive the Marshmallow update at all. We have previously reported that many of the LG phones expecting a Marshmallow update are probably going to skip 5.1.1 completely.
The HTC One M9 and HTC One M8, plus other HTC flagship phones
HTC was very audible when it came to the Marshmallow updates on the HTC One M8 and One M9. A recent report on Gotta Be Mobile shows that HTC's Jason Mackenzie tweeted that Marshmallow is coming to HTC flagship phones, which includes the M8, M9, and many other phones. It should be noted that the HTC One M7 is not only the list to receive Marshmallow, as it is an older phone. It looks like smartphone that are two years old are starting not to receive the latest updates.
This would be a 90 day window for a release date for the latest version of Android. Hopefully, this promise will be kept, as there were problems with the release of Android 5.0 when it came to the HTC One M7 and One M8. Carriers in the United States can often delay software upgrades by 4-6 weeks, so it is possible that the Marshmallow update could roll out by the end of the year as promised, but carriers not have it until late January.
According to Neurogadget, the HTC One M8 Google Play Edition should be receiving its Android 6.0 Marshmallow update by the end of October. This isn't a surprise, as the Google Play Editions received Android 5.0 quite early. In fact, the HTC One M9 Developer Edition will be updated to the Android 6.0 Marshmallow in late November or early December of 2015.
