Android 5.1.1 L Release Date Update for HTC One M9, M8; Samsung Galaxy Note 4, S5, S6 (Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T)

HTC One M9

Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Updates have been rolling out to Samsung devices, but have yet to reach HTC's One series. In the sections below, we will examine the update situation for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Samsung Galaxy S5, Samsung Galaxy S6, HTC One M9 and HTC One M8.

HTC One M9

For the most part, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop remains absent on the HTC One M9. However, the Developer Edition of the HTC One M9 did get Android 5.1.1 Lollipop this July. That means the overwhelming majority of HTC One M9 users in the U.S. are still awaiting Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

In fact, most American carriers have only just recently rolled out Android 5.1 Lollipop for their HTC One M9 devices. These companies include AT&T, Sprint, Verizon and T-Mobile. None of them have announced plans to release Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on the One M9.

HTC One M8

The situation for the HTC One M8 is just as depressing. No U.S. wireless service provider has rolled out Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on the HTC One M8. Unlike One M9 users, virtually all HTC One M8 owners are stuck on early versions of Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Happily, those who have HTC One M8 Developer Edition can update to Android 5.1 Lollipop. There is no word regarding when Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will be available on the One M8 Developer Edition.

Samsung Galaxy S5

T-Mobile has already upgraded its Samsung Galaxy S5 to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

Unfortunately, other prominent U.S. carriers have yet to roll out the latest version of Android Lollipop. Hence, the vast majority of American Galaxy S5 users are stuck on the older Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Samsung Galaxy S6

Happily for Galaxy S6 users, Android 5.1.1 updates have been consistent across the board. Subscribers of Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile and AT&T have reportedly received the new firmware over-the-air.

Galaxy Note 4

So far, only Sprint has rolled out Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on the Galaxy Note 4. According to Android Origin, this update patches the Stagefright exploit. Sprint's update also brings bug fixes already provided by Samsung in the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
