When it comes to the rollout of Android 5.1.1 on the latest and not-so-latest of Android phones, it has been slow since the introduction of Android 5.0 (also known as Android L or Lollipop).  With the release of newer upgrades like 5.0.1, 5.1, and 5.1.1 in order to fix some bugs, this has left users of newer Android phones to wonder when their upgrade is arriving.  This is the best we know about the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Update Rollout Status for the HTC One M7, M8, M9, as well as the Samsung Galaxy S6, S5, Note 4, Note Edge, and Note 3 for United States carriers like Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, US Cellular, and Sprint.

The HTC One Series

According to Android Geeks, it looks like the T-Mobile and Verizon HTC One M9 Android 5.1 Lollipop OTA rollout started this week.

As for the HTC One M8, there isn't any word when users in the United States will be receiving Android 5.1 Lollipop. The news is worse of the M7 as it might not ever receive an update into 5.1 Lollipop, as two years old is practically a dinosaur in smartphone years.  This is according to 2umall.com.

The Samsung Galaxy Series

The good news, according to the Venture Capital Post, is that Android 5.1.1 Lollipop has started to roll out since the past days for select Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note, and Galaxy Note handsets.  It is the Galaxy Note 4 update that is missing, but considering how it is being rolled out on these devices listed above, it shouldn't be far.

Those that have the Galaxy S6 with T-Mobile, US Cellular, and Sprint should have it downloaded now.  However, Verizon Wireless and AT&T don't have them as yet.  As for the Galaxy S5, it should have received the update as well if you are with T-Mobile, while other US major mobile carriers have not officially announced it as yet.

Galaxy Note and Note Edge users should have started to receive their updates if they are with Sprint.  We have already mentioned the Note 4, but there has been a leak of an Android 5.1.1 test with this smartphone/phablet, but still no official notification.

This leads us to "the rest" when it comes to the Samsung Galaxy series.  I'm talking about models like the Galaxy S4, the Galaxy Note 3, the Galaxy Note 2, as well as other 2014 Galaxy tablets that are still stuck with Android 5.0 Lollipop.  As it turns out, mobile carriers as well as Samsung might just release directly the 5.1.1 version and skip the 5.1 and 5.0.1 upgrades.

Of course, a lot of this information listed above might be made moot with the release of Android M this year.  This is the newest version of Android that was announced at Google I/O developer's conference, but there hasn't been a formal release date of it as yet.
